Steadysun contributes to surpassing the 50% renewable energy milestone in Tahiti — a major technical issue for an island grid

4 March 2026

In 2025, Tahiti surpasses the symbolic threshold of 50% of its electricity generated from renewable sources for the first time, with an energy mix composed of 33% hydropower and 18% solar.

This progress, driven by Électricité de Tahiti and its subsidiary Marama Nui, demonstrates that an ambitious energy transition is achievable even in the demanding context of an island system.

In an isolated grid, the growing integration of solar power does not depend solely on installed capacity. The natural variability of solar energy requires production to be anticipated in order to secure the grid and optimize the use of different energy sources.

Accurate solar production forecasting is therefore a key lever to maximize solar integration into the energy mix and limit reliance on thermal generation.

It is in this context that Steadysun contributes by providing solar forecasts that anticipate fluctuations and facilitate this integration.

Surpassing the 50% renewable energy milestone marks a major step forward for Tahiti. It is only one step, and we are proud to contribute to the continuation of this trajectory toward ever greater integration of renewable energy.
