These forecasts were updated at intervals as short as 15 minutes, covering time horizons from a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/steady-sun.com\/steadysat-intraday-forecasts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">few hours<\/a><\/strong> up to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/steady-sun.com\/steadymet-day-ahead-forecasts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">15 days ahead<\/a><\/strong>. Our success across diverse portfolios and technologies emphasizes our expertise in providing highly accurate forecasts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/steady-sun.com\/blog\/how-to-perform-a-benchmark-of-renewable-energy-forecasting-solutions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">benchmarking approach<\/a><\/strong> stands as a common industry practice employed by companies to evaluate the quality of various renewable energy forecasting services. At the end of this article you will find some recommendations that will help you to save time if you want to organize a benchmarking in the near future.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nsylavtrohpesumlaakw.supabase.co\/storage\/v1\/object\/public\/blog_images_steadysun\/steadysun-benchmark2.webp\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>These rigorous comparison exercises, spanning 5 to 6 months, engaged 6 to 11 participants and included power plants in both Spain and Romania.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>We were able to achieve this results primarily thanks to the real-time monitoring of forecasts and the introduction of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/steady-sun.com\/blog\/introducing-our-new-forecasting-system-a-game-changer-for-solar-and-wind-power-forecasts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">our new forecasting system<\/a><\/strong>, at the beginning of 2023, which integrates significant improvements throughout the forecasting chain:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>It combines a growing amount of various heterogeneous data sources from Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models, satellite imagery and in-situ observations.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>It integrates four additional ensemble\/deterministic NWP models into our existing pool of &gt;10 global and regional models, to mitigate the occurrence of extreme errors and improve the overall accuracy of our forecasts.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Its cutting-edge approach considers the performance levels of each model, regional dependencies, and temporal patterns to generate more robust forecasts that account for varying meteorological conditions across different regions and timeframes.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>It relies on an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/steady-sun.com\/blog\/esa-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">upgraded satellite-based solar irradiance nowcasting model<\/a><\/strong> (night time cloud detection, advanced optical flow and atmospheric radiative transfer).<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>It uses more efficient techniques, like improved topographical and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/steady-sun.com\/blog\/dust-plume-event-over-western-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">aerosol modeling<\/a><\/strong>.
